Vaccines vs Nosodes – Can They Compare?
by Carol Thompson
Recently, it was announced that Dr. Mark Loeb of McMasters University is heading up a study to test the efficacy of homeopathic nosode remedies. He is attempting to prove that they do not elicit an immune response and consequently would not provide protection against disease. Since there is a substantial number of families who are becoming wary of pharmaceutically produced vaccines, many of them turning to homeopathic nosode remedies instead¬–often referred to as homeopathic vaccines, better known in homeopathic circles as homeopathic prophylaxis. The trouble is that homeopathy has already been studied and rigorously tested. There is a 40+ page online book called The Evidence for Homeopathy that summarizes some of these studies which in many cases have been published in prestigious medical journals.

Achieve “Thinner” Peace
by Rusty Dixson and Katherine Harriman
Achieve Thinner Peace is a support group for those looking for relief from the obsession with food and dieting.
How many times have we tried and failed at losing weight? How many diets have we tried? How many exercise programs have we signed up for? Years of yo-yo dieting have sent us on a spiral of low self-esteem and depression. Our physical and mental health suffered. Why can't we do this one simple thing? Why can't we lose weight and keep it off? We ask ourselves over and over, “What's wrong with me?” We know we have all the willpower in the world and more than enough motivation. Why can't we do this? It is baffling, absolutely baffling. We are frustrated with the information out there, some of us know a lot about food and exercise but we still can't put it into action.

A Surprisingly Simple Solution to Weight-Management: Mindful Eating
by Shelly-Anne Mckay
It's a new year, and for many this means resolutions to lose weight, eat healthy, and exercise daily. I can already see the rice cakes and celery flying off store shelves in a frenzy. We are bombarded with quick fix diets and the gym is packed with newly born athletes. The sad part is that these good intentions are short lived. Who could possibly live a life so structured around restriction and deprivation? As soon as you say to me, “No cookies allowed. You cannot eat any cookies.” What do you think I want? Yes, cookies! We have all been on diets, lost weight quickly, and then gained it all back and more. Anyone can follow a diet for a short period of time but at the first sign of a trigger, we are reaching for the foods considered forbidden.

The Cost of Sparking Your Potential
by Kristin Pierce
Many of us have a problem with spending money on something that will impart growth, change, self-development, and awareness. Why do you think that is? Is it because learning and gaining knowledge and awareness is intangible? Is it because it is subjective? Or if we dive a little deeper, do you not believe you’re worth it? Do you subconsciously like to struggle? Are you scared of change? Maybe being aware isn’t up your alley. And that’s ok. For some people, that’s where they are at, and where they may like to stay.

I love living in Vancouver, reputed to be one of the most beautiful places one could live in the world, but once in a while I marvel at what other countries have to boast about. Seems that India has a tree that is so special, in so many ways, that they have named it the national tree. We are talking about the Neem Tree (Azadirachta indica), every part of which has immense value, justifying this high praise.

Editorial
by Melva Armstrong
Another new year has started. Can you believe it? They are certainly going faster. It seems to be part of the times in which we are living. I believe 2017 will be the same or faster, so hang onto your hats as it may even get a bit bumpy along the way. The past year was the busiest one I’ve ever had. There were many new things to take care of and I never stopped “doing” from January to December. I hardly had any time to just “be.” I think I was being tested to see if I could handle all the responsibilities. I did manage them and I’m grateful for these opportunities to grow and evolve. I wonder what 2017 has in store? We’ll soon find out.
