It’s practiced in complete silence and focuses on observing thoughts and bodily sensations without judgment. It sounded simple—and profoundly transformative.

Imagine doing something for 20 plus years and still loving it? Well it's been 22 years for Crystal Journey, and I'm still going. Of course, there have been peaks and valleys, but after 1,600 shows, 15,000+ hours, and hundreds of thousands of kilometres, I still love performing. 20 years ago, I was pretty much the only person in Canada doing sound concerts, and probably the only one travelling across the country from coast to coast. My first shows in Ottawa were gathering 300+ people, and right across the country, people were fascinated with this new type of music. I have never called myself a sound healer or "master." Those are pretty strong titles to use, and I never wanted to pressure myself with that title. Crystal Journey performs "concerts," and I let the music work; it's magic. I love when people share their experiences with me, and many have expressed how much the music means to them. That's definitely something I can handle.

As a society, we continue to spend increasing amounts of money on healthcare with a decrease in positive health outcomes. Some core factors that contribute to a healthy life identified through research studies are: healthy diet, regular movement, quality sleep, avoiding addictive behaviours, managing stress, stimulating your brain, finding meaning and purpose, and engaging socially. As a massage therapist, I not only want to stay healthy enough to continue the work I love, as I get older, but I want to help support my clients' health through sharing strategies and approaches that will support their goals. Big Eddy Lodge and the Carrière family have become central to how I put mental and physical health plans into action.

It’s wonderful to now be in the summer season, with the longer days and warmer temperatures. It allows all of us to get outdoors more often, to take in the beauty and energy of Mother Earth. All of her healing energies are so very welcome. I’ve taken a little time to plant some flowers and a few vegetables and herbs. It’s fun and exciting to watch everything grow, and I look forward to having some lettuce soon and hopefully some herbs, too. Thankfully, we’ve had some periods of rain to help everything grow, and it saves a lot of watering. I imagine a lot of you were able to plant a garden and are continuing now to weed it and watch the lovely plants grow. It’s not an easy job and I admire all those who make the effort every year. If we ever want to be self-sufficient, learning how to plant a garden is certainly number one on the list. All the best to all you gardeners. Enjoy your harvests.
