As I write this editorial, we are drawing near the eagerly anticipated and transformational date of December 21, 2012. We have lots of snow and fairly reasonable temperatures between minus 12ºC and minus 15ºC in the daytime. I have been enjoying my walks in the snow with the dogs and loving the sparkling fuzzy frost on all the tree branches. The sun hasn’t been showing itself for weeks now, so it feels like living near the North Pole. So much for Saskatchewan’s abundance of sunlight that we always brag so much about when we talk to folks who live near the ocean. That seems to have all changed now and likely those coastal areas are getting heaps of sunshine. So, is this all part of the new world that is being predicted for the future? It is hard to say.

It is interesting though, to listen to all the different viewpoints that are being proclaimed about these “end” times. I’ve been hearing them for twenty years, so it is rather fun to finally be in the middle of it. I hope you are enjoying it, too. I’m looking forward to the days ahead and to whatever the universe, the gods, the angels, the ascended masters, the messengers have in store for us. I can feel the energy shifting and it is exciting.

In the meantime, life is well on the farm as I enter my second winter here—wood to haul and split, horses, dogs, and cats to feed, wood stove to keep stoked, house to clean, meals to make, dishes and clothes to wash, the usual routine of most people. Somehow, I manage to fit my WHOLifE work inbetween. It is peaceful and quiet being close to nature. Occasionally, I hear a jet plane overhead, but that is very rare. Each night there are coyote howls and in the daytime there are ravens, crows, blue jays, and some songbirds that live here through the winter. I have seen a couple of ruffed grouse and a few deer but so far haven’t come upon any of the elk or moose who live and roam in the area, though I see their footprints and droppings in the snow. Maybe one day I’ll have the pleasure of seeing these magnificent creatures.

Each time we enter a new year, many of us to decide to pay closer attention to our health and wellness. With that, generally comes the desire to eat, drink, think, and live more consciously in our everyday routines. Hopefully, this issue will help toward achieving some of your new year’s goals by providing inspiration, education, and lots of caring and love to support you on the next part of your journey.

It is clear today, as one looks in the health food stores, that coconut products are very prominent and highly praised by folks who use them. We asked holistic nutritional therapist Stacey Tress to give us the scoop, which she has kindly done in her article Health Benefits of Coconut (p.24). According to her, only recently has modern medical science unlocked the secrets to coconut’s amazing healing power with its strong antioxidant properties, and yet its water, milk, oil, and meat have fed and nourished populations around the world for generations. I really like it and you, too, may find it a good choice to include in your diet. And if your new year’s goal has you looking at healthy energy bars on which to snack, Sandra Brandt has some important advice for you in her article, Setting the Bar: Checking Claims of Popular Products is a Good Idea (p. 12). Sandra says there is not much oversight in this industry, so health-conscious buyer beware.

As well as nourishment for inside our bodies, we also require it for the outside and for our minds and souls. That’s why we have provided a wide range of articles from Indian Head Massage (p. 18) by Marvin Swartz, to Heart Disease: Our Modern Plague Resolved (p. 14) by Gerry Bohemier, to Classical Hatha Yoga (p. 35) by Laura Harris, to Access Consciousness®: Allowing Everything and Judging Nothing (p. 40) by Glenyce Hughes, to Astrology for Your Baby (p. 36) by Patricia Sereno, and for the soul, Kryon Answers Your Questions (p. 42) by Lee Carroll. There is much more, so please read on.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to and supported WHOLifE Journal in so many ways, this year and since I began it. I am grateful and I love you all!

May your new year be filled with peace, joy, love, laughter, and abundance in all things!

Namaste
