Raw Honey: Nature’s Sweet Superfood
by Megan Maier
I’m always so amazed and satisfied at the end of the growing season, that we have been able to stock our pantry, cold cellar, and freezers with nutritionally-dense vegetables and meat, and also one of my favourite staples: raw honey. Raising honeybees is an interesting and challenging endeavour. Insects are unlike the other animals we steward on our ranch and there is a lot to learn! These amazing creatures turn nectar from flowers into deliciously sweet, nutritious honey. They are super organisms with a complex social or colony life. We started raising honeybees six years ago and have slowly expanded to 28 hives.

Celebrating Organic Food and Farming in Saskatchewan
by Marla Carlson
For the past 15 years I have had the honour of being a part of the organic community in Saskatchewan, and for the past seven of those years I have been the Executive Director at SaskOrganics. This year, SaskOrganics is celebrating some milestones! We are celebrating our 30th anniversary. The organization has had a few name changes along the way but our foundation has remained the same – a third party verified certification based on the four principles of health, ecology, fairness, and care. Another constant are some pretty amazing volunteers committed to ensuring the success of SaskOragnics itself and the sector we support.

As Within, So Without
As Above, So Below...
by Julie Peebles
The Microcosm within the Macrocosm, the duality polarity, the yin yang, is ever present in all of creation. The foundation upon which all four directional, land-based cultural teachings are based, along with Hering's Law of Cure. This approach to health and healing is guided through the balancing of the mental, emotional, physical, spiritual blueprint of the individual. This is to be observed through living in harmony with the seasons and life cycles of nature and what Mother Earth provides for us, from food to medicinal plants and herbs. For everything we need is at our doorstep and well indicated. If one eats in season, food will be the medicine.

Processing the Past Through the Present
by Elaine Hanson
Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, of Missouri, in 1885 founded Osteopathy, a medical practice emphasizing the treatment of medical disorders through the manipulation and massage of the bones, joints, and muscles. Influenced by the neighbouring Shawnee with whom generations of Stills had intimate encounters and relationships, Still absorbed the knowledge of bone-setting. This close relationship, explains Still, often using “the phrase as ‘Taking an Indian look’ at something. Forgetting what you know and just to quietly observe with no thoughts.”

Purple Goddess Online Pilgrimage™ – A 12-Month Spiritual Journey

Pilgrimage is about longing—longing for connection, longing for source, longing to “come home.” Phil Cousineau describes it beautifully in his book The Art of the Pilgrimage, “A voice calls to our pilgrim soul. The time has come to set out for the sacred ground, the mountain, the temple, the ancestral home—that will stir our heart and restore our sense of wonder.”

Radiance
by Michael Stodola
Radiation is a noun. It is real, and is in fact the energy of reality. Everything has a vibration unique to its own frequency. All life, whether considered sentient or inanimate, radiates a force field which may either attract or repel. We used to speak of "vibes," radiating from people or places. These vibes were said to be either good or bad. I prefer to say they were and are either attracting or repelling, and their frequency largely determines how we interact with the world around us. Let's focus on both what we experience and what we are radiating. It is a dichotomy that each affects the other.

Editorial
by Melva Armstrong
It is wonderful to be back sharing another issue with you. It’s been a fun and unique experience getting everything together and working with both new and old friends who have contributed so beautifully and lovingly to it. I consider all the contributors to the journal as friends because that’s how it feels when I work with each one. It’s been another two months and we are still in the midst of the virus situation, which is unfortunate, as I was hoping it would be resolved by now.
