Bountiful Beans and Peas
by Stacey Wiebe
Spring is on the way! The days are getting longer and the air is warmer. You can feel Mother Nature waking up from a restful winter. Here at White Owl Farm our thoughts turn to calves and goat kids, preparations for seeding crops, and seedlings for the garden. Next to livestock, my favourite thing on the farm is my garden. Beginning in February I start to get anxious to get seeds in the ground, even though we are three and half months away from planting anything! Perhaps my two most loved plants are peas and beans for a number of reasons: they fix nitrogen into the garden, they are really easy to grow, they come in so many different varieties, and my kids eat them like they are going out of style.

Choosing the Right Health Session
Helpful Tips on Deciding the Best Treatment Modality for You!
by Pam Fichtner
When you are dealing with a health issue, whether it be a headache, low back pain, a shoulder injury, lymphatic congestion, or aching muscles, it can be difficult to decide what type of treatment is going to be the most beneficial for your particular situation. There are so many different modalities (the ways in which someone can work with you) available now, and it can be overwhelming for you to know what to do, thus resulting in sessions that are not effective in helping you, or stopping you from taking any action at all. Now, I'm not saying that I have the magic wand, that I know specifically that massage will cure you, or lymphatic drainage is the best, however, I will share some tips that can point you in the right direction as to how to pick a modality and practitioner for you.

The Power of Human Touch
by Christopher Shirley
Yes, many of us do not appreciate just how powerful our touch is. Thankfully, research studies can wake us up to the power of our touch.
In one study, selected students leaving the campus library, unknown to them, received a fleeting, imperceptible touch from the clerk at the checkout desk as they had their books returned. Others did not receive that fleeting touch. Those who did receive the touch rated the library significantly higher than those who were not touched.

When to Seek Naturopathic Care?
by Node Smith, ND
There is a growing interest in different forms of medicine, healthcare, and methods for maintaining health and longevity, as well as preventing and treating illness. Some of this interest seems to stem from a distrust in conventional medicine and government organizations, while others have long-standing health concerns that the conventional medical system has failed to help them with. No matter the reason, more people are purchasing supplements, changing their diets, and starting exercise regimens, and searching out other healthcare options for their symptoms.

Do you believe that the flow of money and spirituality can be aligned? How we earn, invest, spend, save, and believe with a higher purpose can carry us, everything, and everyone forward. Writing, Contemplation, and Reflection
by Kobie Spriggs
Writing can be so very cathartic, enlightening and liberating. Putting thought to pen helps get out and clarify our internal thoughts and experiences, but it also requires some quiet reflection and contemplation to accomplish. Contemplation is a foreign concept to much of our rat-race cultural dynamics, and often we do not make time for these rituals and practices of contemplation in our daily lives, because we are just too "busy." Busy shouldn’t be our automatic default, and I found I was starving for quiet and safe spaces to just "be."

Herbal Skincare Formulas are More Than Skin Deep
by Sue Letwin
I love what I do. There is endless alchemy in playing with various oils, butters, herbs, and scents. My newest endeavour is creating custom skincare. The following oil and herbs mentioned in this article are either from Nocturnus Art and Metaphysical in Saskatoon or from my wildcrafting. Like many herbalists, I feel that the energies within a plant and the energies that people have associated with specific herbs can be accessed by the person using that herb. That means that the herbs I use for skincare are intended to be more than skin deep. Their energies can impart positive effects in anyone using them as skincare.

Editorial
by Melva Armstrong
The light is now returning more each day as we move toward March and April, and spring! It can’t come soon enough for me. Meanwhile Mother Nature is giving us, hopefully, the very last blast of extreme cold temperatures before the red line on the thermometer starts moving upwards into the plus figures, and stays there! We are also getting a lot of beautiful warm sunshine that is brightening up my days and my spirits. It’s so good to feel the warmth of the sun beaming through the bay window onto my face, as I relax on the couch with my eyes closed, absorbing its heat and healing energy. Sun is the ultimate healer.
